I recently traveled to Mexico City in late May 2023 for seven days of incredible sight seeing, Mezcal drinking, walking and endless picture taking.

I met my friend, Erika who's from Sonora, in CDMX on a rainy Sunday afternoon in Condesa. Erika and I hadn't seen each other since late 2019 when we worked together in Sydney. We had the best trip! We stayed in Condesa and walked to Roma Norte almost everyday for lunch or dinners out. We went to Chapultepec and Centro and my favorite place, Coyoacan.

She was the best travel companion, so easy going and up for anything. I would do this trip all over again in a heartbeat, except for the day we swapped Air BnB's where the new one we moved to in Roma hadn't been cleaned, (thats a boring story but in short, they let us check in at 11am when the owners were still home and nothing was cleaned, we lost a whole day of sightseeing due to waiting for the cleaners. Alas we got our money back and found a much better serviced apt in Condesa).

On Wednesday 31st May we took an Uber to Coyoacan to visit Frida Kahlo's Museum. It is important to book tickets ahead of time as it books out daily.

You have to pay USD$30 to take photos, and no videos are allowed. I took my time amongst the crowds to walk through the house to shoot what I liked. There were many paintings, photographs and beautifully decorated rooms of the house to take in, all extremely colourful, just like Frida. You see the beds she rest and painted in, her dresses, corsets and cast are all on display too. Then you walk outside to her garden, with fish ponds, various statues and native plants and trees all surrounded by royal blue painted walls. It was a delight to witness all of this in her hometown of Mexico City, as I've only seen her work in cold museums around the world.
