After the Waterfall jumping in Kiluaea, Cpt. Yeager drove us north west to the ever impressive,
Hanalei Bay.
We passed through the main town lined with cute little restaurants, tourist gift shops & countless Hawaiian shaved ice stalls. The township is surrounded by mountains, Bird Of Paradise & Palm Trees as far as the eye can see, it's neat & quaint & we wanted to stay longer.
Like true Hawaiian style it had just rained, the streets were wet, the air was humid & the breeze smelled of fresh Frangipani's. We quickly pulled over at the Big Save for some road sodas, then Rusty & I jumped in the back of the truck, Ben blasted local community radio on the stereo & we weaved through dense forest that canopied Kuhio Hwy to Hanalei Bay.
The most magical, spiritual & beautiful beach I have ever been to. There's something about the expansive landscape at your feet that takes your breath away, a place you must endure for yourself at any time of day or night.
Once again, in the distance there were massive (Jurassic Park style) mountains with many fresh water waterfalls & misty rain showering the skyline. Sailboats hovered on the horizon, people outrigger canoeing, SUP'ing & swimming in the warm, still ocean.
Plenty of trucks & cars lined the beach with tourists & locals in groups chillin' waiting for the sunset. Rusty, Ben & I sat on the sand, dug our toes in & popped some local Hawaiian beer.
I strolled up & down the beach taking photos, having a quite moment to myself, thinking about the incredible day we just experienced. How physically tired I was, yet felt high on adrenaline & most of all, super happy!
